I thought I'd go ahead and create a post for our group. I haven't done anything yet, but whenever we're ready...

hi!
so our presentation is on Nationalism...what could we talk about? We would definitely need to tie it in with 1984.

Well, we should probably start off by just explaining what nationalism is, then explain the meaning in the book. Nationalism can both be seen with the country's "love" for Big Brother and their "hatred" for Goldstein. These sort of bring the nation together with common thoughts. We could also talk a little about Orwell's essay, 'Notes on Nationalism'. I'm still not sure what we can do for our video, but there are some clips on the internet we could post on the blog if we can't find anything else. There is a movie '1984' but it's rated R so we can't use that. Somehow we need to make this last fifteen minutes?!

sounds good! Do you have a preference on what you want to do? I think our presentation should consist of these parts:
(1) nationalism in general
(2) video example (is this required?) to help further explain what it is.
(3) relevance to 1984
(4) relevance to Orwell

your outline will definitely work! I don't really have a preference but it says our presentation must include a video component, graphic representation, and oral presentation. A poster would be easy to make, but I'm still not sure about a video. I might go ahead and record something on my own so then if we need it then we'll have it. It would go along with the relevance to 1984, then maybe I could talk about that.
I can't believe it's already Friday!

that's GREAT!
I'm excited to see your video. =]
I'll go ahead and work on a poster or maybe another graphic component about nationalism (in general)...with some ties to 1984.
